Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! Anyways, Valentine's day always reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Ralph has a crush on Lisa. It is by far one of the funniest episodes ever. The episode was called "I love Lisa." Anyways, have a happy Valentine's day! I am off to San Diego to see friends so hopefully I will get some good shots of Balboa park, beaches, and young hot San Diego women who likes a nerdy Asian guy from Silicon Valley!

So it is Tuesday again and I am starting this new piece. I am going to paint Thelonious Monk. I love this photo. I don't know why but there is something very powerful in this picture. There is a fire in his eyes and strength with the artist's interpretation of Thelonious . His music is really something too. I love listening to his CD! Anyways, below is the wiki page for Thelonious Monk.

I really like mangoes. I grew up in the Philippines and one of my first memories are of eating mangoes. I remember eating the sweet flesh around the seed. Adults would give the seed to a child, it is like a right of passage for Filipino kids. Manila mangoes were really sweet and delicious. Anyways, I can not believe this is day 72. It has been a great beginning with this photo 365 project of light, life, and love

Today was beautiful day in California. The sun was shining and my nephew was walking and exploring around the house. I took a few snaps of his shadow. He is growing so fast, a few weeks ago he was gingerly walking to and from the couch now, he has so much confidence walking. It is crazy to me how babies grow so fast.

Light & Life: Rust Decorated Bridge (week 6,39/365,shinsato)

This bridge over a drainage ditch in San Jose near my hotel had a warm pleasant soft texture and red color at a distance which I could tell was rust only when I got closer during a nice walk in the California sunshine before a week of hard work away from home.

Light: San Francisco (week 6,38/365,shinsato)

We landed in the heart of San Francisco tourist district, in Ghiradelli Square, to find some dinner. These lights were the only picture I had the heart to take that day. I was longing for the beauty of nature after a long day in a workshop, but this is where we landed. The picture of these famous lights perhaps portray a certain loneliness and forlorn emptiness despite their fame. But the electricity continues to flow through the bulbs that haven't yet broken, and people continue to come the square to buy stuff, guided by these sad bulbs and the hard work of the workers who replace the bulbs both on this street lamp and high up in the more "glamorous" famous sign.

Light, Life, Love: Hewlett-Packard Jellyfish (week 6,37/365,shinsato)

The Monterey Bay Aquarium continues to be an incredibly display of undersea life. The Aquarium was built by David and Lucile Packard, of Hewlett-Packard fame. The legacy that he left in this incredible aquarium may well outlive any mark left by HP in the computer industry. A large stream of children were educated in the love of the sea and the protection of our environment and God's beautiful creatures, from otters to jelly fish to beautiful schools of sardines. The touch pools were also very popular and fun.

Life: Starling Beach Bum (week 6,36/365,shinsato)

Right near the Cannery Row in Monterey, California this Starling stared at me from a rock. It clearly was as happy scavenging from tourist scraps as it was from the ample aquatic life on the rocks. Starlings are common in Montana too.
