It was my uncle's birthday today. I went over to his house to see my parents who drove from LA, and my uncle from Chicago, and the rest of my family in the Bay Area was at their house. This is my godson. He is 4. He made a star thing and put it on his head for fun. We were watching the Jones Jr. and Trinidad fight. Also I showed my godson the Yo Gabba Gabba Party in my tummy youtube.com vid. It was hilarious and he was saying Party in my tummy all night. Good times...

Here is the video.

Life: This is Falafel's Drive In. (week 7,49/365,jreyes)

I picked up dinner at Falafel's Drive In in San Jose, CA. This is really good falafel. You have to have their Falafel combo. It is comprised of falafel and a banana milk shake. This place always has a line during lunch. It is less crowded during dinner time, but their falafels are worth it. Anyways, I took this shot of the sign to remember tonight's dinner. Perhaps I should have taken a picture of what the falafel looked like, but I was "hella" hungry so my bad. mmmm... Falafel...

Life: Happy Snow. (week 2,14/365,shinsato)

We've had little snow the past few weeks, with really unseasonably warm weather. It was nice to wake up to some snow shoveling. If Jonathan can make smiley faces with his food, why not with my snow shoveling?

Light and Life: Samurai Cows. (week 2,13/365,shinsato)

One of these cows was a gift sent in the mail. One of the legs broke, so the giver sent another one. They keep each other company on a display shelf in our living room, the first cow leg happily superglued back in place.

Life: Onward Canada. (week 2,12/365,shinsato)

Learned today that I'll need to go to Vancouver for business. I think I got this map during a trip over ten years ago for my first visit back in the early nineties. The $2.95 price tag for a map probably dates it, but I couldn't find a date on the map itself.

Light and Love: The home fires. (week 2,11/365,shinsato)

The light from my home office looks like a little flicker of fire with the after glow of dusk in the mountains. I took this picture from the bank of a stream that runs through our land which is surrounded by trees, our little forest.

Life: Good Food. (week 2,10/365,shinsato)

This health food store was one of my "I could live here" essentials I discovered when I first arrived in Missoula back in 1998 just to visit. The store was a fifth of the size it is now when it was closer to downtown. They did a great job when they expanded. The market for healthy food has grown in the last ten years, but even then Missoula has had a higher healthy food store square footage per capita than any other place I've lived.

Light and Life: Wheat grass. (week 2,9/365,shinsato)

You can buy little greet patches of wheat grass to juice up for healthy concoctions. Here's a view of it as it sits in the kitchen. The blades seem to just suck in the light and shoot it back with life.

Light and Life: Mobile Clay. (week 2,8/365,shinsato)

One of my sisters gave me this ceramic mobile. It hangs in my office. Here's an angle of light I'd never looked at it from before.

This is a worried dog in the morning before work. He is thinking why are you leaving? When will you come home? He is a really protective dog. He also barks at squirrels and runs a lot. Also this was taken with my new lens. I just got a Canon 50mm F1.4 USM. This thing is sweet! It makes some awesome Bokeh effects. I like it a lot.

Tonight, I am helping my sister babysit. I saw Dr. Suess book and a rubber ducky. This is pretty ironic if you think about it. Is the duck reading English or is it reading duck language? This project is really fun.

This is my latest art piece. It is the Godfather himself James Brown. I really enjoy painting every Tuesday night. It is a my way to get through the rest of the week. I feel alive whenever I create. Anyways, my teacher tells me that I gotta fix hia hair because it looks too static and rigid. That's true, I gotta make him have more soul. Because James Brown has soul, energy, and life. Also, I always try to paint the eyes last, because the eyes make the portrait. I need to add a turtleneck and a cool gold chain to complete the look. But yeah this is my life every Tuesday at art class.

Today was a social night. We played RockBand. RockBand is pretty fun. But I sort of miss the Gold, Platinum, Silver, and Diamond ratings from Kareoke Revolution. That game was tight. Our leader brought these wonderful cupcakes. They were chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. I didn't know the frosting was made with butter, cream cheese, and sugar. They were pretty good, so I took this shot before people ate them.

Life: This is truth during war and peace. (week 7,44/365,jreyes)

Life: This is truth during war and peace. (week 7,44/365,jreyes)

I got up pretty late, because I finally got some rest from taking medicine because I have had a cough and bronchitis. On a typical Sunday I would be up and ready to go for church. But today I "hella" overslept till 11:30am. So I decided I might as well try to read or do something productive on a beautiful Sunday in Silicon Valley. I decided to go to the MLK library in downtown San Jose. And while I was driving by the parking lot, I saw this huge group of Muslims with banners and all dressed in black. I was like "right on a protest!" In actuality, it was a peacewalk organized by Sunni and Shiite Muslims to denounce the ethnic/religious fighting in Iraq.
Peacewalk media release

I took this photo of 3 young Muslim cats holding up a sign.

"In peace the sons bury their fathers, but in war the fathers bury their sons."

For me it was my "damn that's deep, so deep, so deep but your butt to sleep" moment (Credit Ice Cube's song "Today was a good day") But yeah this sign is very truthful with what is going on half way around the world. The ridiculous thing about American media is that the only newsworthy item today were the NFL playoffs and Britney's hearing for her kids on Monday. Not this peacerally for Sunni's and Shiite's. No Yahoo! news, no google news results, nadda...
