So this is my initial stages of my Barak Obama painting. Artists have been painting him ever since he first started his campaign to be the next president of the United States. How come there are not a lot of people paint McCain. Maybe it is because McCain comes of as an old cat near death, while Obama comes off as a hip young energetic cat.

Anyways, today is June 12, Philippine Independence Day. First 330 years of Spanish influence, now 110 years of American influence (corruption) of our culture and our people. God bless the Philippines' hard working people to continue to strive for and ideal independence from hegemonic foreigners.

I went to Antonio's Nut House in Palo Alto, CA on California Ave for a coworker's send off to get married in India. This was an interesting sign as you leave the bar. It is pretty funny and actually really good life long advice.

I helped out an old friend with some of his 6th graders from San Diego. I was a tour guide showing off my alma mater Santa Clara University. I managed to take a quick snapshot of this ridiculously beautiful flower. before the tour. This flower's colors just caught my eye, so I took the shot, before project 365, I would have looked like a dork taking a random picture of a flower, but after project 365, I now have an excuse to say it is for a project. Hahaha

Anyways, my friend really appreciated when I came and helped him. His kids are from a charter school in downtown San Diego. The kids come from "not so many given positive opportunity" (my alternative definition of disadvantage, underprivileged, or "at-risk") neighborhoods in San Diego. They look like good kids, one kid asked if they play soccer here, I told them SCU is really good at soccer (futbol), and one kid was like I want to play professional soccer when I grow up. I was like maybe you can get a scholarship here. Anyways, I hope these all make it to college. I hope they come away with a feeling that they can go anywhere and succeed. Good times! Go broncos! The school's not that bad, considering the most popular alumni is a white basketball player from Canada named Steve Nash.

So I went to photo fair in San Jose, CA. I saw it via the Flickr SF/Bay Area Shooters group. I went there near the end. It was my first photo fair. Man there were so many cool cameras, lenses, and stuff. It was like geeking out @ Fry's, but with photo people. I didn't really know much, but I was just looking around. Then I saw this little Duraflex IV. It was only for $25, but I told the seller, I only have a $20. He was like that's good. I was like sweet. But the fun part with this $20 camera will be to buy 620 film from B&H and also create a view finder contraption for my XTI with my 50mm. Several Flickr people have built some of these view finder contraptions. And the results have been really interesting. This camera is pretty sweet, because the flash makes you look like an old 1950s press photographer. You know like Peter Parker ish... I think these antique cameras are really cool, and a bit addictive.
